A Black sewing machine repairman from Kentucky, is credited for creating the first chemical relaxer – a hair treatment that permanently straightens African-origin hair. His invention came in 1909, inspired by a method used to reduce needle friction on wool. Everything from TVs, to medicine, to art has improved since then, but the relaxer still uses the same dangerous and cancer-causing chemicals to reshape black hair.

Over 100 years later, we think it's time to introduce a new solution for black hair manageability that doesn't have all the risks and doesn’t force hair to be bone-straight.

Our Curl Stretching Cream gently stretches out 4A-4C curls for quicker haircare. Stretched curls last to 4 months and have less breakage, less knotting and faster dry time while keeping bounce and volume.

Easy to Manage Hair in 3 Simple Steps

Step 1: Wash and Apply Cream

Wash and conditioner your hair, then apply our Curl Stretching Serum and leave on for 1 hour.

Step 2: Blow Dry and Straighten Hair

Blow dry hair straight, and then flat iron at 200 degrees C. Do not rinse out serum and leave in hair overnight (or for 8 hours)

Step 3: Wash and Wear

Wash hair again with the Samuel’s Science shampoo and see the results! Your newly stretched curls will be wash-and-go ready for up to 4 months.

Did you know that African-Origin hair is generally flatter than other types of hair? This means that knots stay put and are harder to loosen than for Asian or Caucasian-Origin Hair.
